The P.E. and Sport Premium is a grant designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the P.E. and sport activities they offer their children.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of P.E. and sport in schools. In 2023/2024 school’s Sports Funding was £18,320.
Please review our ‘Impact Summary’ in the resources section below to read all about the strengths and areas of improvement at Ash Grove Primary Academy and to find out how we have utilised our allocated funding.
When allocating funds through the Sports Premium Funding there are 5 key indicators to consider:
1:The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that primary school children undertake at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day in school.
Working together with Minsthorpe & Five Towns Sports Partnership, as well as MSP Sports, has enabled our school to offer further opportunities to engage pupils in regular physical activity by providing activities at lunchtime such as ball games and dance as well as inter-school competitions such as football, athletics, multi-skills, cross country, rugby, tennis and Olympic events.
2: The profile of Sport and PE being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.
Through collaboration with Minsthorpe & Five Towns Sports Partnership and MSP Sports, we have already experienced many rich learning experiences. In addition to this, we raise the profile of sport through whole school events, such as Olympic athlete visits and Active Family days.
3: Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
We use MSP Sports specialists throughout the school to help upskill all staff in the effective teaching and assessment of children.
4: Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
In addition to the sports detailed above, we ensure there are whole school opportunities for children to access a range of sports and activities. This includes activities such as Forest Schools, Roller Biking, Scooter & Cycling lessons.
5: Increased participation in competitive sport.
Each year, children in different year groups participate in a range of sporting events, organised through the Minsthorpe & Five Towns Sports Partnership. This includes a variety of competitive, inclusive competitions.
